The Ethical Redevelopment Salon is a by-invitation, membership-based club in the spirit of social gathering and knowledge exchange—both a social-learning network and peer-mentorship program. The social club promotes relationships by fostering cross-city networks and cross-sector innovation, and utilizing the vision and local tactical strategy of its members.
From July 2016 to April 2017, Place Lab will host monthly, small, invitation-based Salon Sessions at the Stony Island Arts Bank that work through each of the 9 Principles of Ethical Redevelopment. The Salon Sessions will focus on methods for city-building that depart from profit-driven interventions. While each monthly gathering focuses on one Principle, meetings are adaptable to real time needs, issues, and processes of its membership.
The content generated in these Sessions will be shared online in an open, public forum to encourage discussion. Ultimately, the presentations, conversations, and material generated by the Salons will be fully accessible to the public through the Place Lab website, a publication, and videos.
