The Ethical Redevelopment Salon is a by-invitation, membership-based club in the spirit of social gathering and knowledge exchange—both a social-learning network and peer-mentorship program. The social club promotes relationships by fostering cross-city networks and cross-sector innovation, and utilizing the vision and local tactical strategy of its members.

From July 2016 to June 2017, Place Lab hosted monthly, small, invitation-based Salon Sessions at the Stony Island Arts Bank that worked through each of the 9 Principles of Ethical Redevelopment. The Salon Sessions focussed on methods for city-building that depart from profit-driven interventions. While each monthly gathering was structured around one Principle, meetings adapted to real-time needs, issues, and processes of its membership.

Ultimately, the presentations, conversations, and material generated by the Salons will be fully accessible to the public through a website and publication.
